New Cscape Release—Version 9.10, Firmware—Version 12.70

Cscape™ Version 9.10 is a new release offering a variety of product improvements.

In addition to Cscape™ 9.10, we are releasing NEW Firmware Version 12.70 for the XLe, XLt, XL6, XL6e, XL6m, RX371, NX and QX Series of controllers. Some of the new features included with Cscape 9.10 are:

• Support for Horner’s new Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet I/O-‘SmartRail’
• Supports the new Horner XL6m grayscale touch screen OCS
• Supports the upcoming Horner RCX controller
• New group of logic blocks to allow access to large tables of bits
• Support for Email via GPRS as well as Ethernet
• "Alarm Acknowledge and Clear" through registers
• An additional ‘Empty Square’ selector is available for the indicator graphics object
• The Gauge object now has an adjustable needle length

New SmartRail, Modular I/O System


The SmartRail I/O System is Horner’s newest I/O offering.  SmartRail is compact – but highly expandable and scalable.  Start with an Ethernet Base with a built-in two port switch.  Continue by adding I/O modules of your choice that easily snap together.  Each base can hold up to 8 I/O modules, for a total of up to 256 digital and 32 analog points.  Now just daisy-chain as many additional bases that are needed to complete the application – up to a total of 2048 digital and 512 analog I/O.  Software configuration is a snap as well – just plug-and-play using Cscape 9.1.

Digital I/O is available in 8, 16, and 32 point modules – with DC (in and out) and Relay options. For the 32 point modules – SmartLink Wiring Accessories make the multitude of terminations neat and compact. Analog I/O selection is extensive – with modules for 0-10V, 4-20mA, Thermocouples, and RTDs.  These are offered as 4 channel Input only, Input/Output, and Output only models.

When it comes to network connectivity – SmartRail is flexible.  The SmartRail Ethernet I/O Base is one of three offerings, along with CsCAN (summer 2010) and Profibus DP.  This allows it to work great with OCS, or even with third party controllers.

New RX371 5.7" Ruggedized Controller

The RX371 is the most rugged OCS Horner APG has ever manufactured and is designed for harsh environment use, with its cast aluminum and steel chassis, ruggedized heavy duty function keys and impact resistant Lexan® touch screen. Snap-on I/O is provided by up to four metal SmartStack® units directly on the back. SmartStix® expansion I/O is also supported.

The RX371 is unique as it has been optimized for enhanced temperature, environmental, shock and vibration protection. Circuit boards are conformally coated, adding a layer of protection. All function keys have been designed for 30 Million + operations with outstanding tactile feel.
