Horner APG launches New Lighting Division

Horner APG will officially launch its newest 1/4 DIN Controller for the OCS Product Line on May 4th, the XL4.

The release of the XL4 will mark the latest in a series of milestones in the 1/4 DIN All-in-one Controller segment. In 2006, the entry-level XLe became the first industrial product of any kind to utilize microSD removable memory. A year later the XLt was the first 1/4 DIN product to integrate a touchscreen display.

In 2012, the XL4 3.5″ Color OCS becomes the first 1/4 DIN All-in-one Controller to support Online Programming changes. This capability allows automation engineers to modify logic “on-the-fly” without placing the controller in stop mode while troubleshooting. This is a critical startup feature in many industries, previously only available in PLCs.

Other notable features for the XL4 include built-in Ethernet and CAN ports as standard, USB-A and USB-OTG, and dual serial ports. This lineup of peripherals, along with 32GB microSD support – means the XL4 offers by far the most connectivity in its class. To go along with a host of built-in I/O options, the XL4 also features advanced high-speed counting capabilities – also the fastest in its class at 500 kHz or greater.

The XL4 is part of a new generation of All-in-one Controllers that are changing the Automation Industry with higher performance and greater capabilities all in a tightly integrated package. The ZX series contains advanced control capabilities, high-resolution graphics, and plenty of connectivity options. Like every OCS model ever made, the ZX is programmed using Cscape application software. Both advanced ladder logic and full IEC language sets are supported. For advanced ladder, the ZX is the first OCS to feature online programming – where logic changes can be made “on-the-fly” without stopping or pausing the logic scan. The ZX is also one of the fastest controllers available on the market with 4x the logic and register memory.

Advanced Control Capabilities

Like every OCS model ever made, the ZX is programmed using Cscape application software. Both advanced ladder logic and the full IEC language sets are supported. High-Resolution Graphics Available in Three Sizes

Three ZX screen sizes are offered. The 22″ HD (1920×1080) model (ZX1152) is the largest all-in-one controller ever made. It’s resolution and the sheer size of the screen makes it a great fit in control rooms and other applications where the volume of displayed information is important. The 15″ (ZX752) is a more traditional XGA (1024×768) touch screen, making it at home in most factory environments. The 7″ (ZX452), wide-VGA model (800×480) pro- duces over 800 nits of brightness. This allows the screen to remain viewable in a wide-range of ambient light conditions. All ZX models include a VGA output port, supporting an exter- nal display mirroring the main screen.

Plenty of Connectivity

Each ZX features multiple USB ports, supporting Removable FLASH drives. These can be used for data logging, field application updates, recipe management, and a variety of other functions. Multiple serial ports support RS-232 and RS-485, to maintain connectivity with the multitude of serial devices that still exist in a factory environment.
