| Display Type.
These units use either a backlit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or one of three
Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) Displays. PC Configuration Software. A 3.5 inch diskette is included with each unit. A DOS configuration utility which can be usd to configure any Horner OIU is provided on this diskette. Support for Alarm Enunciation. As an added safety feature, these units can be programmed to display specific user-defined screens upon recognition of an alarm state. Support for Chaining Messages. This feature allows the user to program screens to be displayed in a particular sequence. This provides for having longer messages displayed, machine prompting, etc. Momentary Pushbutton Emulation. This allows OIU keys to act exactly as a hardwired pushbutton. The key activates the bit as long as it is held down by the user. "Macro" Functions Supported. Function keys can be programmed to perform a chain of tasks with the pushing of only a single key. Removable Function Key Legend. Yellow function key legend is designed to be removable and can be replaced with a custom, personalized legend. Ports Available. SNP OIUs provide an RS-485 port for direct connection to Series 90 PLCs using SNP/SNPX protocols and an RS-232 port. The RS-232 port allows connection to a serial printer or personal computer. It also supports modem connection for Logicmaster pass-through. These units will automatically pass PLC communications over to modem upon receipt of a phone call. This allows for periodic remote access to PLC data without need for dedicated PLC communications module. The Genius-compatible OIUs provide a direct Genius connection in addition to the RS-232 and RS-485 ports. The RS-232 port provided with this model is for configuration only and will not support SNP communications. The RS-485 port is not used on these models. Floating Point Scaling. This feature provides onboard scaling of data to engineering units. Real Time Calendar Clock. This battery powered device provides access to a real time calendar clock which can be displayed and/or downloaded to any PLC. European Character Set. Some of the Operator Interface models offer access to a set of European characters which are valuable for applications overseas. Number of Customizable Characters. The LCD displays allow the user to create up to eight custom characters. This is valuable for creating logos or adding foreign characters to the character set. Programmability from Keypad. OIUs with full alphanumeric keypads can be programmed withot programming software via the keypad. Password Protection. Two levels of password protection are available to users on these OIU versions. Hand Held Programmer Emulation. SNP OIUs with full alphanumberic keypads can act in the same manner as GE Fanuc's Hand Held Programmer. These models can Run/Stop the PLC and even perform PLC configuration and programming. |
