| The SER160, and SER211 are intelligent Genius I/O blocks that reside directly on the GE Fanuc Genius LAN. The primary function of these products is to monitor the status of digital inputs and record state changes to an internal buffer. The state changes can be time-stamped down to the nearest millisecond. Once recorded, the state data can be recalled from the SER's memory over the Genius LAN (via datagrams) or via its built-in serial port. These products reside directly on the Genius LAN, and feature a dip switch to set the Genius baud rate and bus address (0-31). The current state of each of the inputs is reported as global data every Genius bus scan. Change-of-state events recorded in the SER's internal memory are not automatically broadcast on the network, but are reported upon request via Datagrams. Datagrams are messages sent from one Genius device to another. They are typically generated by a PLC bus controller upon execution of a "Communications Request [COMREQ]" in the PLC ladder logic. After receiving the appropriate Datagram, the SER reports the data back to the requesting device. |

| The event buffer contains the following information; month, day, hour, minute, second, millisecond, inputs that changed, and a snapshot of all the inputs. Buffer size is variable from 1 to 2,048 events. The digital inputs are available with two different voltage ranges, 24VDC and 30-300VDC. This allows for general purpose event monitoring, as well as utility level event monitoring. The unit is powered from 24VDC. The SER160 features a built-in battery backed calendar clock. Time can be set through the RS-232 port, or via a Genius Datagram. For high accuracy and multiunit coordination the SER211 offers an IRIG-B interface. IRIG-B is a modulated signal generated by radio or satellite receivers containing time and date to a resolution of 1 ms. SERs which feature an IRIG-B interface can accept the IRIG-B output signal and decode the time and date information. In this way, time coordination between multiple devices is accomplished. |
